Energy efficient biomass becomes green coal

‘Green coal’ – our energy kick start! BioEndev is a company whose mission is to acquire know-how and technology from researchers and, in collaboration with other partners, develop unique expertise in order to meet the need of efficient and renewable energy and “green” chemicals.

The core competence shall after development and demonstration be marketed, licensed and / or commercialized to energy producers and other industry players in the market.

The focus is initially on technology for torrefaction of biomass into so-called “green coal” and, subsequently, on further processing of the torrefied material to various types of energy carriers as well as “green chemicals”.

Biomass plays a key role in a sustainable society; it can be an important base for both materials and fuel. BioEndev has developed an innovative and energy efficient means of torrefaction for forest biomass – the result is ‘bio-coal’. The low water content has several advantages. The fuel has high energy content, is moisture-resistant and easy to transport, store and treat. BioEndev is now working on the next stage; this includes developments in gasification and synthesizing in order to produce renewable fuels and chemicals from the torrefied biomass.
