Ashes for sustainable forestry

Ekobalans’ business idea is built on using waste products as an important fertilizer component. The company has developed a process that can extract nutrients from sludge and the like and refine it. The result is a high quality fertilizer that does not contain heavy metals and other unwanted elements.

Our business model means that we finance, own and manage plants designed to extract nutrients from sludge etc that is deposited by sewage treatment works, biogas producers and the like. The nutrients are then taken to our processing plant, the dry organic residual is used as a fuel and the reject water is so clean that it can be reused.

Ekobalans has also developed a fertilizing concept for the forestry industry where we mix fertilizers with nitrogen and ash suited to local needs. This system fully compensates for the loss of nutrients when the trees are harvested and results in a long-term sustainable level of forestry production.
