One of the biggest challenges of sustainable development is to be sure that important nutrients are being recycled. Biotain has developed a system that turns a waste problem into a resource comprising nutrients, energy and pure water. In combination with an entrepreneurial spirit and considerable business acumen, Biotain has an exciting future ahead.

Cleantech Inn Sweden, 14 January 2011Making waste a natural resource
Biotain has developed products for processing manure, sludge from wastewater treatment plants and residential area sewage into recyclable resources.
The technique reduces the amount of manure and sludge by using a unique dewatering process. Plant nutrients are then extracted and returned to farmers as a concentrated fertiliser so minimising transport volumes and the risk for spoiling the earth and mineral nutriment leakage.
The development process has awakened considerable interest in Sweden and overseas and in 2011 the first plants will be marketed and sold.
