A successful Meet-the-Buyer Event in Gothenburg

Qualified matchmaking and several potential real business partnerships. The Meet-the-Buyer event, held at the at the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre in Gothenburg was a great success. The day offered a total of 24 meetings between three buyers and fourteen selected startups and SMEs.

At the event in Gothenburg, the cleantech SMEs were offered individual one-to-one meetings with key decision makers from ABB, E.ON, and Fortum to pitch their solutions and discuss partnerships.

–It’s very interesting to get input from other companies with knowledge and experience in areas that can be valuable for us, says Lars Bierlein, Head of Program Office, Business Innovation at E.ON.

Continuous innovation in the cleantech sector can lead to a rapid improvement of green products. Many of these innovations are developed by SMEs or start-ups without a strong international presence or experience in dealing with large corporate buyers. But despite the need for new technology most of these innovations are invisible for the buyers. In response to these needs, Cleantech Inn Sweden and RISE are a part of the SCALE-UP Project. Central are tailor made Meet-theBuyer events, designed to match Corporate Buyers sourcing demand to cleantech suppliers and help to shape their partnership with the Innovators. New technology and innovations are needed to enter the future.

–We must develop our business and that’s why we are looking for partners to scale-up with. These 20 minutes meetings is a very good way to meet new innovators, says Catarina Naucler, R&D Manager at Fortum Sverige.

–It’s an honor to be one of the selected SMEs and to get this chance. It gives us as a small company great opportunities, says Niklas Nyström from Soletaer.

The SCALE-UP Project is co-funded by the European Union and at the event in Gothenburg, you could find European companies.

–For us as a French start-up, trying to enter the Swedish market, the Meet-the-Buyer Event is a great way to introduce us and our innovations to established Scandinavian multinationals, says Julie Pellerin at Metron.

When the day came to an end ABBs’ Team Manager Switching Technologies, Magnus Backman, summarized the day in a beautiful way:

–It’s been a good day with several interesting meetings and I feel like it’s the start of something bigger.
